The small Giant Water Bug,
Belostoma
flumineum, and the Giant Water Bug,
Lethocerus
americanus are both quite common. Both are underwater predators
and reportedly have a wicked bite.
Belostoma females lay
their eggs on the backs of the males.
Lethocerus, sometimes
called the Giant Lightning Bug, often comes to light.
