The small Giant Water Bug, Belostoma flumineum, and the Giant Water Bug, Lethocerus americanus are both quite common. Both are underwater predators and reportedly have a wicked bite. Belostoma females lay their eggs on the backs of the males. Lethocerus, sometimes called the Giant Lightning Bug, often comes to light.
