(Bark Lice)
The Bark Lice (245 NA spp) is a small order of relatively poorly known
insects. Most are scavengers feeding upon lichens and fungi on trees or
other vegetation. 24 families are recognized in North America, but few
of even the major collections contain but a smattering of species. Perhaps
15 species belonging to five families have been collected at Cedar Creek.
Serious collecting would likely quadruple this number. Some
undetermined
material remains, and the ID's provided below are largely tentative.
