Order ZORAPTERA

(Zorapterans)

The Zorapterans (2 NA spp) are tiny (2mm) gregarious insects found under bark, in decaying wood, and sawdust piles in the southern US.  They are likely detritivores, feeding on fungi.  Only a single family (Zorotypidae) with ca. 24 world species occurs in the Order, which was only discovered in 1913.  None in Minnesota or at CCESR.

1. Family ZOROTYPIDAE (Not found in Minnesota)
