Experiment 100

The Effect of Fire and Fertilizer on Old-Field Vegetation

Summary

In the spring of 1992, a full factorial experiment was set up on top of E011 in fields A, and B. Four new treatments were added to the three existing treatments (fertilizer treatments E, G and I). The 4 new treatments are: 1)Fertilized as before + Burned each spring 2)Fertilized as before + No burn, 3) Cease fertilizer + Burned each spring and 4) Cease fertilizer + No burn. The four new treatments x the 3 existing treatments = 12 treatments. There are four replicates of each treatment in each field = 48 plots per field. Half of the plots in field B are used for E036 . The previous uses of each plot are recorded in the treatment file. For a description of fertilizer added to E100, see file fertilization details. For a list of treatments, see the treatment layouts in file trmte100.
