Experiment 057

The Effect of Burning on Large Areas of Vegetation Which are Subject to Herbivory and Various Amounts of Added Nitrogen

Summary

The purpose of this experiment was to measure the effect of burning on large areas of vegetation which was subject to naturally-occurring levels of herbivory and to which various amounts of NH4NO3 was added. This experiment was established on top of E004. In 1989, certain sections of each macroplot in field B and C were burned. In each macroplot, the center section and one section on either the east or west side of it were burned. This burning is done every spring. In 1992, the same procedure was also established on E004 in field A. For a list of fertilizer treatments for each plot, see file trmte04. For a list of burn treatments per plot, see file trmte57.
