Experiment 050

Photosynthesis Rates Under Different Nitrogen and Light Levels

Summary

This experiment was done using leaves of plants from E026 plots with different Nitrogen levels. Leaves were clipped and measured for rate of photosynthesis, respiration and other physiological parameters under different light shades. Nitrogen levels were 3 and 10. Light levels were full sun, 50% sun, 20% sun and 7% sun. Species sampled were Agropyron repens, Schizachyrium scoparium, Andropogon gerardi and Poa pratensis. Leaf area was determined using a LiCor leaf area meter. Samples were dried and weighed for biomass. Specific weight was determined and photosynthesis on a weight basis was also determined. See E026 for plot details.
