E036: Light meter readings for E036 use the same materials and methods as in E001 except that gopher mounds are ignored. Light meter readings are taken in the specified positions in each of the plots, regardless of the presence of gopher mounds. Also, since this experiment includes the use of light shades, an extra set of light readings is taken in those subplots with light shades. In those subplots with light shades, one reading is taken, at the diagonal, above the light shade. A second reading is taken below the light shade but above the vegetation. A third reading is taken below the vegetation (also below the light shade). This is done at two diagonals for each shaded portion of the plots. In the subplot that is at a diagonal to the subplot with the light shade, light readings are also taken at two diagonals. One reading (at each diagonal) above the vegetation and one reading below the vegetation.
