The purpose of this experiment was to measure nitrogen mineralization under conditions of E018 through E022. The experiment was located in the same fenced area as E018 through E022. The eight different soils used were: N1, N2, N3, N3*, N4, N5, N6, and N7. For further information, see soil details. All soil types were placed under two light conditions L2 and L7. The soil type N7 was placed under seven light conditions L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6, and L7. See E019 for how light intensity was adjusted. The buried bag method was used to measure mineralization. Two replicates of each of the nitrogen-light conditions just described were used for a total of 42 pots. Bags were placed in each pot every month between April and October. One bag in each plot was left to over winter until 1986.
