CCNHA has two representatives of the Grape Family.
Vitis
riparia (Wild Grape) is an uncommon climbing vine at woods
edge. It infrequently bears fruit. Parthenocissus
inserta (=P. vitacea: Virginia Creeper) is a much more
common climbing vine and ground spreader of open woodland. P.
quinquefolia has been mistakenly reported for the Area. It has
suction-like tendril tips and is more likely to be found in floodplain
forests along the Mississippi River in SE Minnesota.
