Plants of Cedar Creek

 Family PRIMULACEAE

(Primrose Family)

Representatives of the Primrose Family are Trientalis borealis (Starflower) and three species of Lysimachia (Loosestrife).  Starflower is fairly common in low and mesic woods. L. thyrsiflora (Tufted Loosestrife) is a common marsh species. L. terrestris (Yellow Loosestrife) occurs along the shore of Fish Lake.  L. ciliata (Fringed Loosestrife) is an uncommon species of field and savanna.

Other genera found in Minnesota but not represented at Cedar Creek include: Androsace, Dodecatheon, Glaux and Primula.  *Dodecatheon sp (Shooting Star) is an attractive plant found in SE Minnesota.
