 Family POTAMOGETONACEAE

(Pondweed Family)

The eight species of Potamogeton (Pondweeds) are submerged aquatics of ponds and lakes.  Fish Lake boasts the most with seven.  Most common are P. amplifolius (Large-leaved Pondweed) and P. natans (Floating Pondweed).  Others collected from Fish Lake include:  P. gramineus, P. pectinatus, P. praelongus, P. pusillus, P. robbinsii, and P. zosteriformis.  P. robbinsii is also found in Beckman Lake.
