PORTULACACEAE Family

(Purslane Family)

The sole representative of  the Purslane Family at Cedar Creek is Portulaca oleracea.  It is an introduced species of disturbed trails and gardens.

Two additional genera found in Minnesota but not represented at Cedar Creek are Claytonia and TalinumC. virginica (Spring Beauty) is a common species of floodplain forest such as along the St. Croix River 25 miles to the east.
