 Family PLANTAGINACEAE

(Plantain Family)

Three species of Plantago (Plantain) occur on the Area.  The most common Plantain of shady woodland trails is P. rugelii (Rugel's Plantain).  P. major (Common Plantain) is an introduced species found at homesites.  P. patagonica (=purshii: Woolly Plantain) is a common small gray tomentose introduced species of roadsides and xeric old fields.
