Plants of Cedar Creek

 Family PAPAVERACEAE

(Poppy Family)

The sole representative of the Poppy Family at Cedar Creek is Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot).  It occurs sparingly on Crone’s Knoll, and was probably planted there.  Our upland Oak Woods are simply too xeric for this common spring ephemeral of mesic woods.
