Family OSMUNDACEAE

(Cinnamon Fern Family)

Three common species of Osmunda in the Cinnamon Fern Family are O. claytoniana (Interrupted Fern), O. cinnamomea (Cinnamon Fern), and O. regalis (Royal Fern).  The first is a transition species found on lower slopes bordering wooded wetlands.  The latter two occur in wooded swamps.  All three can be seen along the boardwalk into Cedar Bog Lake.
