Three representatives of the Water Lily Family are found on the Area’s lakes and ponds. Nuphar luteum (Yellow Pond Lily) and Nymphaea tuberosa (White Water Lily) occur on most of the Area’s larger ponds and lakes. Brasenia schreberi (Water Shield) with its smaller oval floating leaves, musilaginous stems, and emergent small pink flowers occurs most abundantly off the west shore of Fish Lake.
