Plants of Cedar Creek

Family NYMPHAEACEAE

(Water Lily Family)

Brasenia schreberi (Water Shield) with its smaller oval floating leaves, musilaginous stems, and emergent small pink flowers occurs most abundantly off the west shore of Fish Lake.

*Nelumbo lutea (American Lotus) has large floating circular leaves and very attractive flowers and seedheads.  It occurs along the Mississippi River in SE Minnesota.
