The Burrowing Bugs (36 NA spp) are a small group of infrequently collected
species that feed upon the roots of plants. Four species have been
collected at CCESR.
Sehirus
cinctus is the most commonly encountered. It is commonly found
on Hedge Nettle (
Stachys palustris) in field swales. Two uncommon
species of
Amnestus
collected are
Amnestus pusillus and
Amnestus
spinifrons.
Microporus
obliquus is a rare? species collected from sandy-xeric E.
